7xjung is an extracurricular learning center operated by Gesicht Zeigen! (Show Your Face!), a Berlin-based organization dedicated to promoting democracy, combating discrimination, and fostering civic engagement. Located in central Berlin near S-Bahn Bellevue, this unique educational space uses artistic installations and interactive methods to bridge historical experiences with contemporary issues, particularly focusing on youth aged 11 and above.

Workshop Program

The learning space 7xjung by Gesicht Zeigen! offers interactive workshops for school classes and youth groups. Below, you’ll find all the key information about our workshop programs.
How it works

The 7xjung by Gesicht Zeigen! offers 4-hour workshops for school classes and youth groups, running Monday through Friday in morning or afternoon sessions. Groups of up to 30 participants are divided into smaller subgroups of 15 for more intensive engagement. The cost is €50 per subgroup, making it €100 for a regular-sized class. Workshops are primarily conducted in German; however, they can be adapted to meet the needs of groups with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Sessions in other languages may be arranged upon request. To submit a detailed inquiry or request, please contact us here.

Workshops are highly customized to each group’s needs, with flexible emphasis on different themes. The center particularly focuses on the Nazi era but also addresses colonial and migration perspectives. Personal stories from these historical periods form the foundation for discussing democratic coexistence today. The methodology combines movement-based activities, creative work, personal reflection, and interactive games to engage different learning styles.

The Learning Center

7xjung is a specially designed spatial installation that uses artistic approaches to create accessible and unconventional ways of engaging with the themes of Gesicht Zeigen!.
Exhibition Spaces and Content

The recently renovated space (2022-2025) features multiple themed rooms with powerful exhibits.

The RESISTdANCE video installation tells the story of boxer Johann Rukeli Trollmann, a Sinto who lost his German championship title due to Nazi racial policies and protested by boxing with bleached hair and white powder on his skin.

A destroyed room installation visualizes the violence experienced by Jewish and communist families whose homes were ransacked during the Nazi era, based on survivor testimonies.

Interactive elements include park benches with removable signs showing both Nazi-era „Aryans only“ restrictions and modern anti-racist actions, Pride stickers tracing LGBTQ+ history from the vibrant 1920s through Nazi persecution to 1970s rights movements, and remix stations where visitors can mix swing music (persecuted under the Nazis) and contemporary hip-hop with anti-racist messages.

Other exhibits feature the stories of Fasia Jansen, a Black German forced to work in a munitions factory and later at a concentration camp kitchen, who became a post-war activist, and illustrations depicting the experiences of Black German sisters during the Nazi era.

Additional Programs

Gesicht Zeigen! offers a wide range of formats in the field of political education. Here you will find information about our various programs. We are happy to provide tailored advice based on your specific needs and the requirements of your group.
Professional Development

Gesicht Zeigen! offers comprehensive training programs for teachers, social workers, educators, and businesses. These sessions address democracy education, civic courage, confronting antisemitism and various forms of racism, handling discrimination in educational settings, understanding Islam and anti-Muslim racism in schools, and managing sensitive discussions about current conflicts like Israel-Palestine. Trainings can take place at 7xjung location or at participants‘ institutions, with formats ranging from two-hour workshops to full-day events.

This gender-sensitive education program primarily serves Muslim youth experiencing multiple forms of discrimination. The project offers workshop series covering identity formation, prejudice awareness, religious diversity, gender roles and equality, children’s rights, classism, and political participation. The program extends to parents and community educators, recognizing their crucial role as multipliers in reaching young Muslims. Sessions often feature role models from politics and society who share similar migration backgrounds.

Schools can order this comprehensive material package to implement democracy education independently. The package includes games, exercises, and detailed pedagogical guides, enabling educators to create their own interactive learning experiences around democratic values and participation. For more information about the Democracy Lab project, refer to the detailed project page.

This collaborative initiative brings together 11 Berlin educational institutions to offer multi-day programs that guide classes through various sites. The programs address Holocaust education, memory politics, democratic understanding, and diverse society, always emphasizing the connection between historical events and contemporary relevance.

Who are we

Gesicht Zeigen! has been active since 2000 as a registered non-profit association committed to strengthening civil society against hate and discrimination. The organization develops public campaigns, maintains an active presence both on social media and at demonstrations, creates innovative educational materials, and specializes in reaching young people who may not respond to traditional cognitive learning methods. Their work spans from high-profile public campaigns supported by celebrities to grassroots educational initiatives, always maintaining the core belief that „Everybody can be a change agent!“
The learning center itself opened in 2010 and has evolved continuously to address current societal challenges. It serves as a progressive space for dialogue that enjoys increasing popularity among diverse audiences, from school groups to international exchange programs.
Impact and Vision

7xjung represents more than just an educational space – it’s a living laboratory for democratic engagement where historical consciousness meets contemporary action. By connecting the experiences of those who faced persecution and discrimination in the past with today’s challenges, Gesicht Zeigen! helps young people understand their power to shape a more inclusive society. The space deliberately avoids being a static museum, instead functioning as a dynamic environment that evolves with societal needs while maintaining its core mission of fostering empathy, critical thinking, and active citizenship.

Since 2024, the facility has been fully wheelchair accessible, reflecting the organization’s commitment to inclusive education. Staff work actively to identify and reduce barriers for all participants, adapting programs to meet specific group needs whether related to physical disabilities, language, or learning differences.

The educational work receives support from the Berlin Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family, the Berlin State Office for Equal Treatment – Against Discrimination (LADS), and various foundations including Foundation Peters. The recent renovation was funded by LOTTO-Stiftung Berlin, with Deutsche Bahn providing long-term partnership support.
